The science of the mind
Psychology is the science of the mind. The human mind is the most complex machine on Earth. It is the source of all thought and behaviour. Knowing what is good for you and wanting to do it is, alone, not sufficient to make sustainable behaviour changes.
We all want to feel and look fitter and healthier, so why do so many people unable to bridge the gap between lying on the sofa and thinking about exercise and getting out there and actually doing it?
The psychology involved in us exercising, from our first cognitive thoughts on the matter to our completions of marathons is not just important it is our foundation that will fundamentally dictate our exercising lives. To improve and control your psychological make-up in relation to exercise it is advantageous to first clarify and understand the specific adaptations that will occur from certain physical activity.
Once this understanding is gained we can then apply it to your motivation.
Know the benefits of exercise. We are more motivated to do things that we’ll benefit from. The more we benefit, the more motivated we are.
